Audeamus — Let Us Dare

Audeamus (Ah-day-a-moose) is a multidisciplinary academic journal for undergraduate honors students across the UC system. It's where we want to showcase work of the highest merit, no matter what it is. There are so many academic journal and literary magazines out there, but not as many places where anything can get published—anything reproducible on paper, that is.

Audeamus is eclectic: just flip through the pages of any issue. Organic chemistry is right next to literary analysis, and just down the table of contents there's some photography and a biology paper. The world is a fairly eclectic place, so why not our journal? That's what our name means, you know: Let us dare. Let us dare to publish a journal that is as varied as the world is.

History

Audeamus was the brain child of UC Riverside Philosophy Professor Howard Wettstein. This idea was expanded upon by students Juliana Lee, Kevin Eldridge, and William Churchill and the honors adviser Emily Nudge in 2005. It all came together and the first issue was published in 2006. The first issue was lead by Juliana Lee. And from then on, we haven't stopped growing, haven't stopped changing, and haven't stopped exploring. Come and join us.

For Good Measure

Yes, we have a mascot. What respectable publication doesn't? His name is Mister Bumbledeer. He is a well-dressed, mild-mannered, mustachioed, fancy man in a monocle. Any and all fan letters may be forwarded to Mister Bumbledeer by contacting the Editorial Board.

To clarify, Audeamus is Latin for “let us dare”.
